Barbara Manners

Barbara Manners is running for a third term on the Board of Selectman. She graduated from N.Y.U. at Washington Square, got a Masters in History at NYU, and then received a J.D. from Fordham Law School (1973).

Barbara has 17 years of legal experience, working first for a law firm, then for major pharmaceutical corporations: Schering- Plough in New Jersey and Purdue Frederick in Norwalk. She ultimately became general counsel of the publicly traded generic drug company Par Pharmaceutical. She has experience in managing in- house as well as outside counsel, negotiating contracts, dealing with state and federal agencies, administrative law, litigation etc.

She has lived in Ridgefield since 1983. Her husband Morgan Weber is an attorney with Schering Corporation in New Jersey. Her son, David Manners-Weber, is 13 years of age and is an avid tennis player. Barbara is also proud of her four dogs.

Ms. Manners been on Board of Selectmen for the past four years. Other community service includes: service on the Board of Directors of Women's Center in Danbury for three years 1996-1999, and on the Board of Directors of ABC from 1996-March 2001. Barbara is also Founder and Former President of The Ridgefield Playhouse. She's a member of League of Women Voters and of the American Association of University Women. In 1999, she received their 1999 Ct. State Award for Community Leadership. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra. She continues to serve as Chair of the Holiday Trust Fund Committee, established two years ago at Ms. Manners' initiative to raise funds to support Halloween Walk and downtown holiday lights.
