The following statement was published in The Ridgefield Press on September 11, 1997:
Devine Names Campaign Committee
Mary Pat Devine, Democratic candidate for the Board of Education, announced her campaign committee this week.
David Tewksbury has been named campaign chairman and retiring Board of Education member Marianne Loomis will act as treasurer for Mary Pat Devine for Board of Education. Rounding out the campaign committee will be Democratic Town Committee member Susan Mushlin, and present Board of Education member Kitty Fisher.
"I am fortunate to have such a committed and experienced committee," said Ms. Devine. "We look forward to bringing our ideas for a better and more productive board to the people of Ridgefield."
She said, "This town deserves a board that is able to tackle the critical issues of school overcrowding and the new superintendent search without being bogged down in petty disagreements and personality conflicts. We are at a crossroads and there is hard work to be done. It is time to elect a board that is willing to make decisions in a timely fashion and stand by them."
Contributions to Ms. Devine's campaign may be sent to Mary Pat Devine for Board of Education, 23 Overlook Drive. Information about the campaign can be seen at the new Democratic Web site, www.ridgefielddems.org.
