AWARD-WINNING RIDGEFIELD WEBSITE TO BE ON VIEW AT MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

Board
In Ridgefield's 1999 Memorial Day parade, selectmen rode in cars. Read on to see what innovation First Selectman Rudy Marconi plans for this year's parade!

May 22 -- On Memorial Day, parade-goers will have the unique opportunity to view Ridgefield Democrat's award-winning Web site, www.ridgefielddems.org, from computers set up on the corner of Prospect St and Main Street at a kiosk staffed by volunteers from the Democratic Town Committee. The Democrat's Web-site is the winner of the Liberty Award, an award given to electronic media in recognition of the Web-site's contribution to an open political process and the democratic principles of this country. Folks attending the Parade can also have their photograph taken at the festooned booth for inclusion on the site's coverage of the Memorial Day Parade.

On Memorial Day at the booth, Ridgefielders can receive information and forms for voter registration. They will be offered materials about the Town of Ridgefield and our elected officials. Available at the booth will also be literature from the upcoming races from US Senator- incumbent Democrat Joe Lieberman, US Congressman and incumbent, Democrat Jim Maloney and the Presidential candidacy of Al Gore.

Ridgefield Democrats will be manning the computers for public viewing at a festooned Memorial Day booth from 10:30 AM throughout the Parade. Before the parade steps off, they can meet First Selectman Rudy Marconi and other elected Democratic officials and offer feedback.

Update: We have learned from the First Selectman's office that Rudy will lead the Board of Selectmen in walking this year's parade route, instead of the prior practice of riding.

It is will be a great day for the families and all are invited to stop by.
