Democrats did not nominate a candidate to contest the State Representative position currently held by Republican John Frey. Selectman Joseph Heyman, elected last Novemeber, told the caucus that he had been approached by numerous Democrats and encouraged to run for the State Rep. position. Heyman reported tonight that he would not run, saying, "I feel a strong obligation to the Ridgefielders who supported me to serve my full two-year term as Selectman." DTC Chairman Jim Diamond said, ""I would have preferred to have a candidate to run against John Frey, however, there is much at stake in this year's election and our Party will devote our resources to reelecting Congressman Jim Maloney." Diamond added, "We need Jim Maloney in Washington fighting for us. Once he is returned to Congress in November we will immediately turn our attention to next year's municipal elections."
The caucus also nominated 40 Democrats to serve as Justices of the Peace.
