Congressman Maloney And The Democratic Ticket Open Office In Ridgefield

Ridgefield, Ct -- The excitement of the Congressional and Presidential campaigns comes to Ridgefield next week as Ridgefield Democrats open an office for Congressman Jim Maloney and the Gore-Lieberman ticket at Copps Hill Plaza on Sunday, August 20, 2000 at 12 noon. The headquarters will be a Regional Headquarters for Maloney for Congress and the newly- announced Gore-Lieberman ticket. It is located in the Copps Hill shopping center at the former site of the Volt Record Store.

Ridgefield Democratic Chair Jim Diamond said, "On Sunday, August 20th, the entire town and the voters from our neighboring towns are invited to meet the Congressman, get a balloon, enjoy refreshments and get involved in the exciting races of November 2000."

"Congressman Maloney will be here to personally greet all of the campaign volunteers and Ridgefield residents," Diamond continued. "With the nomination of Senator Joe Lieberman as the Vice Presidential running mate for Al Gore this is an important campaign pointing to a Democratic victory this fall, " said Mr. Diamond. "The Headquarters opening event offers voters a chance to meet the Congressman and get to know the man who has been getting Ridgefield’s issues and those of the entire district heard in D.C."

Congressman Maloney is a frequent visitor to Ridgefield including announcements of major legislation and funding for transportation, Weir Farm, open space and education in his visits. Congressman Maloney has taken his efforts directly "to the streets" in recent weeks with visits to the Nutmeg Festival and the Sale-a-bration in Ridgefield, to mention just a few.

Invited guests include: Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz, State Treasurer Denise Nappier, First Selectman Rudy Marconi, and all other Ridgefield Democratic elected officials.

The Maloney and Gore-Lieberman Headquarters is open 7 days a week from now until the election in November. Voters are urged to stop by anytime and find out more about the candidates, their positions and volunteer opportunities.
