Sponsors On Board for Marconi Golf Challenge

Mike Jones at golf course
DTC member Mike Jones discusses plans for the tourney with Salem Golf Club pro Kammy Maxfeldt. Salem is a first-class club - Kammy has won several tournaments and was the LPGA NE Section Women's Player of the Year in 1997, 1998, and 1999.

As the date for Ridgefield's Golf Challenge and "roast" of First Selectman Rudy Marconi approaches, DTC Golf Chairman Henry Seemann announced that all sponsorships are sold. "This is an exciting milestone," reports Mr. Seemann. "I think local businesses are seeing the difference that Rudy's leadership is making, and so they are supporting his efforts on their behalf regardless of Party affiliation."

The event is scheduled for Monday, September 11th, at the private Salem Golf Club in North Salem, NY. The event will start with a barbecue lunch at around 11:30 a.m. and a "shotgun" start at 1p.m.

There are fourteen sponsors, not eighteen, because four golf holes are reserved for golfing contests. These contests are a fun addition to the golf outing as well as the challenge of the Club.

After the golf outing, there will be dinner under the stars at the elegant old mansion which serves as the club house for the Salem Club. Individuals who want to join the celebration may attend the dinner only, starting around 6 p.m. At dinner, prizes for the day's golfing will be awarded and local celebrities will honor Ridgefield's First Selectman, Rudy Marconi, in a good-natured "roast."

Foursomes are still open—a unique chance to play a premier private course with the leadership of Ridgefield and your neighbors. Persons wishing to sign up for some of the few remaining foursome spots or for the dinner only can call Dr. Henry Seemann at 431-0830, Mrs. Paula Bruns at 438-3356, or Mike Jones at 438-0005. Callers are requested to leave their name and contact information. Dinner only participation is $40/person, while the entire golf outing is $150 which includes the dinner.
