Sept. 11 -- Ridgefield Democratic activist Susan Cocco let her school-age daughters Francesca, age 12, and Gianna, age 8, cut class today to take in the Clinton-Maloney event in Danbury. Little did she expect that they would all meet President Clinton, up close and personal. Both girls got to shake hands with the President, and they got an autographed campaign poster too. Cocco, Communications Chair for the Democratic Town Committee, said, "Today is a day that inspires our young people to take part in our democracy. My daughters will remember this day for the rest of their lives."

Today featured the first visit of the President to the Ridgefield area, as well as Ridgefield Democrats' first annual "Marconi Challenge" golf event. DTC Chair Jim Diamond said, "This was a wonderful day for Ridgefield Democrats. Our golfers matched their skills against First Selectman Rudy Marconi, while others joined President Clinton in rallying voters for Jim Maloney. Then, we all came together for a terrific dinner and a good-natured roast of our esteemed First Selectman. I was glad that I could see the President and then shoot over to the Golf Challenge to pay tribute to another talented public servant, Rudy Marconi." About 100 Ridgefielders gathered for the dinner and roast at the nearby Salem Golf Club
