Maloney Shines In Ridgefield Debate

Jim Maloney in Ridgefield debate Oct. 30 -- Rep. Jim Maloney (photo, center) debated his two opponents in Ridgefield tonight. The audience of 200-plus saw once again why the popular Democrat is heavily favored to win reelection to a third term in the U.S. House. Citing his specific accomplishments, the congressman detailed the numerous benefits he has brought to residents of Connecticut's Fifth District. He also pointed out his opponent's record of support for extreme right-wing positions. Maloney detailed Nielsen's opposition to gun safety measures - positions which have made Nielsen the NRA poster boy of Fairfield County. Maloney also detailed his personal support for legislation to make guns safer.

Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee Chair Jim Diamond (left, with Rep. Maloney) noted, "Ridgefielders were proud to see Jim Maloney demonstrate once again his grasp of the issues, and his record of accomplishment for our town and for the entire Fifth District. Democrats are energized to work as hard as we can to ensure Jim's reelection." Jim encouraged everyone to come to Ridgfield Democratic headquarters in Copps Hill Plaza to volunteer to help out in this last week of the campaign.

Nielsen had attempted to shut third-party candidate Zdonczyk out of the debate, but Maloney supporters inistsed that all three candidates should participate.
