Hundreds Turn Out To Honor Dick Venus

First Selectman Marconi Dedicates "Venus Municipal Building;"
Sen. Dodd Hails "A Great Citizen"

(Left) Dick Venus allowed as how he was glad he hadn't worn a hat to today's ceremony, or he would have had trouble getting it back on his head - which has certainly swelled from listening to the compliments paid him by today's speakers.
(Right) State Sen. Judith Freedman and State Rep. John Frey read a proclamation from the Ct. Legislature, honoring Ridgefield's Dick Venus. Rep. Frey, noting Mr. Venus's role as a prominent Democrat, explained that Democrats Speaker of the House, Moira Lyons, and President of the Senate, Kevin Sullivan, had co-sponsored the proclamation - which was originated by local Republicans Frey and Freedman.
