The Second Annual Marconi Challenge!

Rudy Marconi at last year's Golf outing dinner
Everyone enjoyed golf with Rudy, followed by dinner at last year's golf outing. He invites everyone to come out to this year's event, whether for golf, dinner, or both

Tiger Woods - eat your heart out. While the Masters is a nice event with quaint traditions, Ridgefield's own Marconi Challenge is definitely more fun. Our tournament involves a lovely day out on the course, capped by an elegant dinner. Also, the Ridgefield event doesn't just have a bunch of pro golfers, we have an interesting and diverse group of players, led by our esteemed First Selectman Rudy Marconi. While it must be said that Rudy is not the Tiger Woods of Ridgefield (his team did not finish even close to the top last year), he nonetheless is an amiable and engaging golf partner.

In its second year, the annual Marconi Challenge is expected to draw a large number of golfers to the Ridgefield Golf Course on Friday, September 14. The action starts at 10 AM, with tee times until 1 PM. Dinner at the wonderful Bernard's Inn at Ridgefield is from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

Last year's highly successful event - both golf and dinner - was held at the Salem Golf Club. 86 people enjoyed the day's activities. With the event now being brought home to Ridgefield, it should prove to be even more of a hit this year. The Ridgefield Golf Course, a par 70 course with a slope of 119, is one of the best municipal courses in the Northeast. The course has a nice layout and presents enough challenges to make it enjoyable for golfers of all levels. Even those golfers who put in a sub-par performance will have a chance to revive their spirits at Bernard's Inn at Ridgefield. The exquisite food is prepared by Bernard and Sarah Boissou, described by Connecticut Magazine as "supremely talented chefs."

[Golf includes green fees, carts, deli lunch. Proceeds to benefit Ridgefield Democrats.]
