Aug. 26 -- Ridgefield Democrats got an early start on the 2001 campaign Sunday, with a reception for First Selectman Rudy Marconi held at the home of Rod and Melissa Buckwalter. Marconi was joined by other Democratic contenders at the elegant outdoor reception. He heard from a diverse crowd—young and old, representing members of all political parties--that he has to continue the work begun in his first administration. "Getting things done in Ridgefield was impossible before Rudy took over," noted Democratic Chair Susan D. Cocco. "Overcrowded schools, the loss of the Bennet's Pond property, secret government meetings and raises for a few friends of the former administration were the norm in this town. Rudy Marconi got the town moving in the right direction again."

Marconi Reception "We have a chance to continue the work by electing with him our team of talented and dedicated Democratic nominees. This is critical if we do not want to see the progress of the past two years undone," she observed.

The Marconi-led Democratic team will shortly announce the location and grand opening date for campaign headquarters. "It will be a chance for the town to meet Rudy's team and get to know the talented and dedicated people who wish to serve, " she noted.
