Campaign In High Gear

Oct. 7 -- Fall is officially here, we're into the first week of October, and the 2001 campaign is in high gear. Ridgefield Democrats, energized by the prospect of significant gains in the upcoming municipal election, were out campaigning in force today.

Mike Jones and Nancy Samson

Mike Jones the Johnstons
Mike Jones, campaigning at Steve's Bagels, chats with Walt and Nancy Johnston. With their three youngsters, Walt and Nancy are very interested in the school building program. They enjoy hiking, too, and care about open space. Mike discussed his past advocacy for both the school bundle and for the Bennett's Pond Initiative - as a Selectman, he was the first public official to call for the Town to take the property by eminent domain.

Roger Garbow and Rudy Marconi
Rudy Marconi was a featured guest at Roger Garbow's reception Sunday. Rudy is emphasizing the importance of electing the entire slate of endorsed Democrats, to give him the team he needs to continue to get things done for Ridgefield. Roger Garbow has watched with some alarm as Ridgefield's open space has vanished and outsize homes have sprouted in almost every vacant lot; he supports the eminent-domain acquisition of the Bennett's Pond property and the recent imposition of Floor Area Ratios in new-home construction.

Shoeless on Sunday
No, guests didn't have to sell their shoes to gain admittance to the Roger Garbo soiree Sunday. The event was held in the Enchanted Garden children's play school on Danbury Road, and the rules for the upstairs dance studio are "No Shoes."
