Oct. 15 -- Ridgefield Democrats spent an evening celebrating our Town's history tonight. The "American Pie" event featured a variety of classic American home-baked pies, which the 50-plus attendees enjoyed sampling, along with good conversation. First Selectman Rudy Marconi spoke about the progress his administration has made in the last two years, and the need to elect his entire team to continue to get things done for Ridgefield. His running mates, including Selectmen Barbara Manners and Steve Zemo, Board of Finance candidates Mike Jones and Joanne Murray, Board of Education candidates Mary Pat Devine and Diane Schrier, and others, were introduced to an enthusiastic audience at Ridgefield's Community Center.
The highlight of the evening was a talk by Ridgefield historian Keith Jones, author of The Farms of Farmingville, who spoke about the Revolutionary War Battle of Ridgefield, which will be marked by a 225th anniversary reenactment next year. Mr. Jones, who is helping organize the 2002 event, described the lives of 5 Ridgefielders who were key players in the Ridgefield's colonial era.
