Rudy and Peggy Marconi

Power Couple!
Bill and Hill Clinton, move over. Bob and Liddy Dole, you're history. Here we reveal the power couple of 2001: Ridgefield's First Selectman Rudy Marconi and his wife, Peggy Marconi. Peggy served as Chairwoman of this year's Downtown Holiday Stroll, and her First Selectman spouse joined her to help with the festivities for the successful two-day affair. The Stroll, which took place Friday evening and all day Saturday, brought out thousands of Ridgefielders and their neighbors from nearby Connecticut and New York communities to enjoy strolling, shopping and dining. After a brief shower Friday evening, the skies cleared and the weather cooperated - Saturday was spectacular, with bright sunshine and record-setting temperatures in the 60's. Rudy and Peggy couldn't have been more pleased. "People are having a great time, and the kids are enjoying the caroling, ice sculpture, and visits with Santa," reported Chairwoman Peggy Marconi. Rudy agreed, "The crowds have been great, and merchants are telling me business has been terrific." The Stroll, only in its second year, has proven to be a great success and will become a staple of the town's calendar of annual events.

Rudy and Peggy Marconi During the week, inside Town Hall, First Selectman Rudy Marconi is the boss. But at Saturday's Holiday Stroll, in front of Town Hall, Chairwoman Peggy Marconi reigns supreme. Here she supervises Rudy as he mans the booth selling Holiday Stroll buttons - the donations go to support social and charitable groups in town. The Scavenger Hunt was a big hit with the youngsters - we're still waiting for the list of winners.
