Feb. 6 -- The Ridgefield Board of Selectmen tonight voted unanimously to send the plan for an office park on the south part of the Bennetts Pond property to a Town Meeting next Wednesday, Feb. 13. The Selectmen, meeting as the recently-established Economic Development Committee, heard Ridgefielders voice opinions about the proposed plan. ROSA President Ellen Burns (photo, left), who has championed the Town's taking control of the huge Bennetts Pond parcel, argued that the proposed plan was a viable blueprint for development of the smaller south portion of the 600+ acre parcel. The north portion, with more than 400 acres, has been taken by the Town for permanent open space. Ridgefielders are encouraged to attend next week's Town Meeting to vote on the next step in resolving the future of the Bennetts Pond property. The meeting is currently scheduled for 7:30 PM, Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Town Hall. Check the Town web site for a possible location change if it appears a larger meeting room will be needed.
