May 4 -- First Selectman Rudy Marconi showed his determination that Town government hear from all Ridgefielders by bringing Town Hall to the Ballard Green Senior Center today. Responding to high interest in the Senior Citizen tax credit, Marconi scheduled an unusual Saturday morning Selectmen's meeting to give seniors a better opportunity to communicate face-to-face with him and other Town officials. More than 200 people overflowed the large room, and a dozen or so speakers urged Selectmen not to enact the means test recommended by the special committee which studied the credit issue. Marty Carr (at podium, behind Marconi) helped organize today's meeting and served as co-host, along with the First Selectman. Carr, who is active in senior organizations, also Chairs the Annual Town Meeting Committee; both he and Marconi urged today's attendees to come out Monday at 7:30, at the Playhouse, for the 2002 Annual Town Budget Meeting. Seniors who attended today's event were pleased that Rudy was going the extra mile to ensure they could meet at a time and place more convenient than the usual Selectmen meetings.![]()
