May 27 -- It was a picture-perfect Spring Day as Ridgefield celebrated Memorial Day 2002 with its traditional parade. Thousands lined Main Street as veterans, politicians, boys and girls, fire engines and bands proceeded through the center of town. Ridgefield Democrats were visible both as parade participants and through their meet-and-greet booth. First Selectman Rudy Marconi (photo, right) was joined by Selectmen Barbara Manners (center) and Steve Zemo aboard a vintage fire engine.

Democratic office-holders and volunteers Mary Pat Devine, Pam Hunter, Diane Polsky, Michael Collins, Susan Cocco, and others also joined in greeting voters and offering ifnromation on voter registration and local Democratic activities. Many Ridgefielders who stopped by were interested in talking with volunteers about Democratic positions on open space, schools, and other key local issues.
