Ridgefield, CT-Ridgefield’s Democratic leaders are jubilant at the announcement made from the Hall of Flags at the State Capital on Saturday June 30th that Bill Curry and George Jepsen will run for Governor and Lt. Governor.

“This team represents the best chance Connecticut has to address the issues that have derailed our progress during the last 8 years -property tax relief, transportation, the environment and education,” noted Susan D. Cocco, Democratic Party Chair. “With Bill Curry as Governor and George Jepsen as Lt. Governor, Connecticut will have an executive branch with legislative, fiscal management, public service and thought leadership credentials. There is no better combination of talent and experience to lead our State.”

Bill Curry is the former Controller of the State of Connecticut. George Jepsen is the State Senate Majority Leader representing Stamford. Together they have pledged to take their campaign to every corner of the State to address issues of real concern to Connecticut. To date, they have visited Ridgefield twice and will be appearing at local events and meetings with residents during the next few months.

“I am pleased to be a supporter of the Curry-Jepsen ticket,” declared First Selectman Rudy Marconi. “Today, Ridgefield faces a huge threat from casino gambling-and the current Republican Governor refuses to take a public position against it spread. Our town and others just like us are left alone in this fight.”

“Today, Ridgefield copes with increased traffic, escalating costs and the burden of preserving our quality of life and our economic equilibrium-without significant help or leadership from the State. The burden on towns must stop-we must share the responsibility to create solutions. I am confidant that Bill Curry and George Jepsen will work hand in hand with Ridgefield to do so.”

“These issues effect all of us-they are not “party” issues, they are “life” issues,” noted Dave Nichols, Democratic Party Vice Chair. “We are committed to bringing this message to ALL the voters of Ridgefield and to hearing their concerns between now and November.”

The Ridgefield delegation of nine - First Selectman Rudy Marconi, Susan D. Cocco, Dave Nichols, Grant Perry, Cindy Bruno, Reggie Hazel, Pat Baker, Pam Hunter, Roger Garbow, will attend the Democratic State Convention on July 13th in Hartford, then return home to launch a campaign in the critical months leading to the election. The campaign will include events, calls, dialogue with neighbors and communications.
