Sept. 19 -- Bill Curry told Ridgefielders tonight that they could count on him to fight to stop the spread of casino gaming into Fairfield County. Curry, Democratic candidate for governor, has made the casino issue a hallmark of his campaign for a year, in contrast to Gov. Rowland, who has only recently decided to speak out on the issue. Ridgefield Democrats turned out for Curry, his running mate George Jepsen, and Congressional candidate Stephanie Sanchez, at a reception at the Community Center tonight.

Of particular local interest are his steadfast opposition to the spread of casino gaming into Fairfield County, and his property tax relief proposal, which would bring additional state funding to Ridgefield to allow property tax relief.

His opponent, Gov. Rowland, has been at times, pro-casino, silent, then neutral on casinos, and now says he opposes them.
