Rep. Jim Maloney has urged his Ridgefield neighbors to support Stephanie Sanchez for Congress The 2000 census forced a redistricting of Connecticut, and Ridgefield was moved from Jim's District to the 4th Congressional District, which has been represented by Republican Chris Shays for years. Stephanie Sanchez of Stamford, a protege of Jim Maloney is running for the seat. Stephanie is a young, dynamic woman who attained a remarkable 42% of the vote in her first run against Shays in 2000.

Oct. 10 -- Jim Maloney, a friend of Ridgefielders for a decade, had a special message for his neighbors: "I'm proud to have represented Ridgefield in Congress for the last 6 years. While I'll miss you in the future, you are fortunate to have a great candidate running to be your Representative as you move into the 4th CD. Stephanie Sanchez is one of the brightest young stars in the state. Stephanie broke into politics working in my 1994 campaign. She has an aggressive agenda on issues I know Ridgefielders care about: relieving our traffic congestion, environmental protection, prescription drug benefits for the elderly and smaller class sizes for our children. I urge Ridgefielders to give Stephanie your wholehearted support this Fall." Sanchez has already visited Ridgefield several times this year and has received an enthusiastic reception from townspeople.
