Rudy Marconi and Selectmen Bennetts Pond history

May 28 -- A proposed settlement of the Bennetts Pond issue was discussed at a Public Hearing tonight. The Board of Selectmen has negotiated a potential settlement with the curent property owners, Eureka V, and is asking voters to become informed in preparation for a June 26 referendum. At tonight's hearing, First Selectman Rudy Marconi (photo, left, standing, with Board of Selectmen at table) reviewed the history of the property, using a slide (photo, right) to highlight key events over the last several years.

Another Public Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 12, at which the First Selectman plans a more detailed review of the background and issues surrounding the Town's acquisition of this important open space. The hearing will be followed by a Special Town Meeting.
