Sept. 6-7 -- Labor Day has come and gone, and Campaign 2003 is moving into high gear. Ridgefield Democratic candidates were out and about this weekend. Two local events attracted townspeople, and of course office-seekers.

On Saturday, St. Mary's Fall Festival took place, and attracted the usual throngs of Ridgefielders and neighbors from nearby towns. Board of Finance candidate Rob Miller (photo left, above, on the left) spoke with St. Mary's Fair volunteer Tom Gotimer. Rob said, "St. Mary's Fair is a great opportunity to get out and talk to Ridgefielders. I heard a lot of folks concerned about our town's fiscal situation. There's a lot of misinformation out there. I'm looking forward to communicating the facts to the community and using my abilities to help manage Ridgefield's operations."

On Sunday, a reception was held for townspeople to meet the new Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kenneth Freeston. Dr. Freeston is taking over from retiring Supt. Ralph Wallace. Democratic candidate Beth Meagher (photo, above, right) came out to meet the new schools head. "If I'm successful in my race for the Board of Education, I'm looking forward to working with Dr. Freeston and the other leaders of Ridgefield's schools to build an even better educational system."
