DTC Elects Officers
First Meeting of New Democratic Town Committee Elects Officers
Mar. 16 -- The 1998-2000 Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee held its organizing meeting tonight. A first order of business was the election of a new slate of officers. Unanimously elected were:
- Chairman - Rudy Marconi
- Rudy is a native Ridgefielder, has served as P&Z Commissioner and Selectman, and led the Democratic ticket last fall as candidate for First Selectman
- Vice-Chairman - Reggie Yannuzzi
- Reggie has a long record of active involvement in civic affairs and is a Democratic activist. She is just completing a term as President of the local League of Women Voters.
- Treasurer - Mary Gelfman
- Mary is a long-term Ridgefielder who has been active in town government and Democratic politics for many years. She has served very effectively as DTC treasurer for 10 years.
- Corresponding Secretary - Monte Frank
- Monte is a relative newcomer to Ridgefield, but has already made his mark on local politics. He earned the Democratic nomination for Board of Finance last fall, and was very active in supporting the entire Democratic slate.
- Recording Secretary - Dave Nichols
- Dave has been active in the DTC for 10 years, and has recently served as Webmaster of www.ridgefielddems.org

The election of the popular Rudy Marconi was widely expected from the time that outgoing DTC Chair John Kukulka announced his decision to retire after four very successful years of leadership. Newly-elected Committeewoman Susan Cocco was briefly nominated for Vice-Chair, but declined on the basis that she felt Reggie Yannuzzi would be a better choice, and had her full support.

Selectman and Town Committee member Barbara Manners attended by phone, as she is at home recovering from a recent vacation injury. The phone via which she attended was placed in a spot of honor at the center of the room, and the phone was kept busy, as Barbara didn't disappoint those who know her for having strong opinions on most topics!
