Congressional Candidate Diane Farrell Visits Ridgefield April 26

Chris Dodd, Diane Farrell, John McGrath Apr. 11 -- Residents of Ridgefield who are interested in finding out more about Diane Farrell, the popular and effective First Selectwoman of Westport who is challenging Christopher Shays for the Congressional seat in the 4th CD (our district) should make a point of coming to the Ridgefield Community Center on Monday night, April 26th at 7:30PM for a free Coffee and Community Forum where Diane Farrell will speak and meet Ridgefield residents.

Diane has committed to making Ridgefield an important part of her camapign. She visited last month, appearing at a reception for Sen. Chris Dodd, hosted by Ridgefielder John mcGrath (story below). Come out and meet Diane on April 26, and look for her to be frequent visitor to Ridgefield throughout the summer and fall.

Diane Farrell led off her campaign for Congress representing Ridgefield and other towns in the 4th District, promising to fairly and honestly represent the true interests of the towns, not the interests of Tom Delay whom is supported over 80% of the time by Shays. Her strong performance in Westport including fiscally conservative budgets, tax relief for seniors and an improved infrastructure has won many accolades. To date, she has mobilized voters, donors and volunteers-receiving notice from Roll Call as recently as last month. (Visit her website for more information at www.farrellforcongress.com).

Local campaign coordinator and member of the Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee, Paula Bruns, agrees that Diane would be great in Congress. “Diane Farrell has the pulse of this District. She knows the difficulty of balancing budgets, yet serving municipal and school priorities. She is strong on the environment, and on bringing sanity to our transportation issues. She knows that we must build the economy in Connecticut and the US. I am excited.”

The race for the 4th Congress ional District is considered a top race in 2004. Many believe Farrell's assets as a campaigner and a fundraiser, along with her positions on issues, give cause for excitement.

“We are delighted to offer Ridgefield the opportunity to meet Diane Farrell and get to know her. She will be spending time here-with local leaders and average citizens-for the next 8 months to insure that our voices are heard, noted Democratic Chairman, Susan D. Cocco. “Come to meet her and see for yourself why she will make a better representative in Congress for Ridgefield than who we have today.”

The Coffee and Community Forum is free and open to the public at 7:30PM on Monday night, April 23rd, at the Ridgefield Community Center, Main St., Ridgefield. For more information call 438-3356 or visit www.ridgefielddems.org
