May 3, 1998 -- Continuing a 20-year Ridgefield tradition, the League of Women Voters today hosted Town volunteers at their annual party. Informally dubbed the "Know Your Town" cocktail party, all Ridgefielders who serve on town boards, commissions, and committees are invited to come and meet their fellow citizen activists. On a Sunday afternoon with intermittent rain showers and bright sunshine, about 100 Ridgefielders enjoyed the League's hospitality at the beautiful Garden House at the Keeler Tavern Museum. Event co-host Lee Dickinson said, "This year we have a lot of relative newcomers serving on Town boards and commissions. Many of these people haven't had a chance to meet other Ridgefielders who serve on town committees; the party was a great chance for people to get acquainted. We were very gratified with the turnout."
First Selectman Abe Morelli headed the list of town notables who turned out. Members of Planning and Zoning, the Board of Education, Board of Finance, and many other Town bodies also attended. (Photo: Democratic P&Z Commissioner Di Masters and her husband chat with First Selectman Morelli)
