June 14 -- Ridgefield's Vietnam veterans were honored today, along with Old Glory, at a ceremony marking Flag Day. The newly-inscribed Vietnam Veterans' plaque on the monument in front of the Community Center had been readied for recent Memorial Day ceremonies, but since most of the event was rained out, a follow-on Flag Day ceremony was organized. The recognition for Ridgefield's Vietnam fallen was long overdue: last fall, this web site began publicizing the fact that Ridgefield's Vietnam veterans had received no recognition on the town's veterans' memorials. Finally, local veterans groups have rectified this situation. We're proud that the public attention we brought to this omission has resulted in finally creating a suitable monument. Thanks to those who made it happen.
