As preparations begin for the 1998 election campaigns, Ridgefield Democrats had a busy week preparing for upcoming conventions. On Monday, John Kennelly, (photo, left) son of gubernatorial candidate Barbara Kennelly, met with the Ridgefield Democratic Town Commitee to brief us on campaign strategy for the upcoming statewide races. Planning was started for Barbara to become increasing visible in Fairfield County and Ridgefield.
Also this week, Ridgefield participated in a Fairfield County Leadership meeting in Fairfield. Connecticut House Majority Leader and soon-to-be-Speaker Moira Lyons (photo, right) talked about plans for the upcoming state legislative races. Ridgefield DTC Chairman Rudy Marconi, Selectman Mike Jones, and Webmaster Dave Nichols met with Lyons and other Fairfield County Democratic Leaders at the event.
In yet another important meeting, Ridgefield delegates to the state convention met with other delegates from the 26th Senatorial Distict to elect Democratic State Central Committee members. Wilton's Stuart Smith (photo, left, with Mike Jones) was unanimously reelected to his third term. The woman's seat was captured in a unanimous vote by former Westport DTC Chairman Martha Aasen. Ridgefielders Rudy Marconi, Mike Jones, Jim Diamond, Barbara Manners, and Dave Nichols attended.
DTC Chair Rudy Marconi (right) was kept busy with a variety of important meetings, planning for statewide campaign races, as well as preparing for the upcoming fundraiser. During Monday's DTC meeting, Ridgefield Democrats pledged their support to Ridgefield's beleaguered "Hot Dog Man," Chad Cohen, proprietor of the popular Chez Lenard gourmet food stand. To show their support, Ridgefield Democrats will host the Cohens at Saturday's upcoming Family Picnic.
