Ridgefield, Ct., Sep. 2 -- Over 100 Democrats attended a gala reception for Barbara Kennelly here tonight. Ridgefield Democrats were energized by Barbara Kennelly's stirring speech. Speaking from the grand staircase of the Community Center, the gubernatorial candidate said, "As I stand in this beautiful home, in this beautiful town, I tell you I've been working to improve education for our children since I first went to Congress." Ms. Kennelly, a mother and grandmother, is truly passionate about her concern for children, their education, and enhancing the economy and the environment of Connecticut for them. Rep. Kennelly and Attorney General Blumenthal said they were extremely pleased with the turnout at tonight's Community Center event. Ms. Kennelly told Ridgefielders she was especially happy to be appearing in the Community Center, which was the home of one-time Ct. Governor Lounsbury. "I think I'll take this as a positive sign of things to come," she told the crowd.

Ridgefield Democratic Vice-Chair Reggie Yannuzzi (l.) was the chief organizer of tonight's gala, and she made sure throughout the evening that Rep. Kennelly met all the Ridgefielders who came out.
