Ridgefield High Hosts 38th Annual Candidates Assembly

Candidates at forum Oct. 20 -- Ridgefield High School hosted its 38th annual Candidates Assembly today. The event was highlighted by the appearance of Congressman Jim Maloney, who is running strongly ahead of his Republican challenger. Rep. Maloney had to cut short his visit to return to Washington to vote for final passage of the Democratic budget, which includes funding for 100,000 new teachers while protecting the budget surplus. Gary Franks Mark Nielsen Gary Franks (left) is campaigning for Sen. Chris Dodd's seat, and most polls show him lagging badly. Many say Gary has spent more time in the 5th district as a senatorial candidate than he did when he was our congressman! Mark Nielsen (right) is seeking to unseat Jim Maloney. Despite the national GOP targeting Jim's seat, the polls show the popular Danbury congressman with a strong lead.
