Selectman Mike Jones was out stumping for the cause, here in front of Stop and Shop with Ridgefielders Milo and Mimi Dalbey of Christopher Road. Mike had dedicated nearly a year to bringing this school into fruition -- he was on the Site Selection Committee, the Construction Committee, and has been on the Board of Selectmen for one year. "This is the best site in town for this school," he says. "It's easy for the few skeptics to criticize our recommendations, but you never see them offering a better choice -- because there isn't one."

Mary Miller (l) persuades another voter about the merits of the new school site. Mary says the most common question is about the traffic, which everyone admits right now is abominable. "But the experts have looked at the traffic flows," she says, "and they feel that with relatively simple changes -- all paid for with State money -- the traffic will flow better with the school in place than it flows right now. That's a win-win for the whole town!"

Another hard worker and prolific writer has been Chris Fallon, here seen chatting in the late afternoon shadows of the Grand Union with Anne Colleary and her daughter, Erin. Both of the Collearys seemed enthiusiastic about the new school, no doubt in part to the research and analysis that Chris has brought to the debate in the Ridgefield Press.
Nancy Fogarty (left) and Cindy Ingersoll (right) worked tirelessly to get the word to voters out doing their Saturday chores. Here they've set up shop, with signs and leaflets, outside the Grand Union.

John Ferreira chats with the gracious Marci Kaufman at Stop & Shop on Saturday morning. Ms. Kaufman said she supported the school, which got her off the hook easily because John was relentless in explaining the advantages of the school to people who were undecided or opposed. In fact, John must be one of the most patient people in the world; when he spoke with people who were opposed to the school site, he explained the issues with clarity and accuracy, and in great depth.

Elizabeth White has worked hard to organize the pro-school effort with R.E.A.D., the political action committee which supports Ridgefield schools. After campaigning all evening in the freezing cold at Blockbusters, she was out on Saturday at the Grand Union. Here she chats with Dan Bangsen of Ridgebury about the advantages of the Rt. 35 site.
