In a banner-headlined story, the Danbury
News-Times reported
on the inauguration of this Web site.
The article, prominent in the News-Times local news section, opened by
observing that "Stumping on the campaign trail has taken on a new dimension
for Ridgefield Democrats who, in addition to campaigning door-to-door,
will reach voters through the Internet."
DTC Chair John Kukulka was quoted on the significance of the Web site,
with its potential to reshape local government: "We are looking to the future
and we are incorporating the tools of the future into the kind of government
this town is going to need for the 21st Century." Kukulka was also quoted
as describing how the Web site will give candidates a more complete forum to
get their messages out to the voters; "...it's a good way to assess
the complete thinking of a candidate," Kukulka said.
Ridgefield Republicans, Where Are you?
The article, by News-Times reporter Kathy-Ann Gobin, reported that a
"...Republican Town Committee member...said his group has discussed the
possibility of using a Web page for the November campaign, but nothing
has been decided yet."
Endorsements
Gobin's story also noted that "the [Democratic Town] Committee has federal
and state endorsements for its technological initiative. Vice President
Al Gore and U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., are featured on the
Web site lauding the local Democrats' campaign efforts."
The article concludes by giving the Internet address (URL) of the Web site, www.ridgefielddems.org.
