Ridgefield's Graveyard Commission Kicks Up Their Heels at Their 8th Annual Fest

Feb. 5 -- Graveyard Commission membersIn the newly refurbished Community Center tonight, the Ridgefield Graveyard Restoration Commission enjoyed their eighth annual dinner, celebrating another year of hard work under the hot sun for little thanks. The theme of the party was honoring the earliest heroes of Ridgefield, most of whom are interred in our beautiful town. The party was well attended, with about twenty members of the Commision, another dozen spouses and the few Selectmen who have not yet come down with the flu. A lively bunch, the party sizzled with great food and wonderful camaraderie. [Photo: Joe and Joan Boggs, Jeanne Timpanelli and Grace Celewell enjoy beverages before dinner.]

This Commission, appointed by the Selectmen, works hard to protect and preserve Ridgefield's heritage. From documenting the town's early history, restoring lost headstones from photos taken fifty years ago, tracing genealogical trees, or simply keeping the weeds down and the tombstones up, they work hard and well, keeping our sense of history alive and well.
