Town Meeting Votes $200,000 To Study School Sites

Town Meeting attendees
About 40 Ridgefielders attended tonight's Special Town Meeting.

Mar. 26 -- A Special Town Meeting tonight voted unanimously to authorize $200,000 to study three potential school sites recommended by the School Advisory Commtttee. The fund would be used for septic, water, archeologcal, traffic, and environmental studies at the Barlow Mountain, Prospect Ridge, and new high school sites. The Board of Selectmen had originally requested $260,000 for the studies. The Board of Finance subsequently trimmed the request to $200,000. The unanimous vote led to speculation as to why the traditional opponents of education spending did not attend tonight's meeting.
