Apr. 19 -- The Board of Finance tonight passed the Town budget, which provides funding for town departments and agencies, and which together with the just-approved Schools budget (story below), represents most of Ridgefield's spending. The finance board made cuts in agency budgets totaling nearly $100,000. Among items which fell under the BOF ax were an additional $13,600 The Barn had requested for a late-hours program for older teens, $19,000 from the Fire Department's training request, and $50,000 of the current $100,000 contingency fund. Democratic Selectman Barbara Manners noted, "I am personally not happy over some of the cuts, especially The Barn, the Fire Department training budget, and the contingency funds - unexpected things always come up, and [with the cut in the contingency fund] any unexpected needs which arise beyond the contingency amount would have to go to a town meeting!"
