| The presence of 11 questions on today's ballot led election officials to post signs alerting taxpayers to the 2-minute rule. Turnout was light enough that there were no reports of lengthy wait times on a beautiful spring day. |
Town officials were pleased with the result, but disappointed that turnout was very low. Less than 20% of registered voters participated in today's annual budget referendum. There seemed to be far less controversy over this year's budget proposals than in recent years. Notably, voices of the traditional nay-sayers to all town spending seemed muted during the weeks that led up to today's vote. This was reflected in the low turnout at the May 3 Annual Town and Budget Meeting and in today's referendum vote.
