Sept. 12 -- Congressman Jim Maloney urged Ridgefielders to elect Rudy Marconi First Selectman at a gala fundraiser today. The 5th District U.S. Representative, a rising Democratic star in Washington, addressed the hundred or so Democrats who gathered poolside at the beautiful home of P&Z Commissioner Di Masters. Maloney reminded the guests of the consequences of too many years of failed Republican leadership: a school system that is 2 years late in keeping up with rising enrollments, bungled opportunities to protect important open spaces, and secretive, inefficient town government. Candidate Rudy Marconi responded in his address by pledging to give townspeople modern, cost-effective, and open governement when he is elected in November.
Danbury Democrat Jim Maloney has supported Ridgefield Democrats for over ten years, going back to his days in the Ct. Senate. He promises to be a major source of support for Rudy in this fall's campaign.
Board of Finance Chairman Bernie Dzielinski was among the scores of Democrats turning out for this very successful first fundraiser of the '99 campaign. Bernie is seeking reelection to the Board of Finance.
DTC Vice-Chair Reggie Yannuzzi explains how Ridgefield Democrats are going to sweep the GOP right out of office this fall, as she introduces Rep. Maloney to the waiting crowd.
Rudy thanks P&Z Commissioner Di Masters for hosting this very successful event. Rudy, who served on P&Z himself before being elected Selectman, continues to take an active interest in town planning issues; Di has been a leader in keeping the town focused on the Master Plan for the future development of Ridgefield.
Di Masters' children helped serve hors d'ouvres throughout the sunny afternoon. Here, one of the six Masters daughters (yes, there's a son too!) makes sure the guest of honor has plenty to nibble on.
