Ridgefield's Main Street was once again a child's fantasy as thousands of kids and their parents Trick or Treated today during the annual Halloween Walk. The throngs of people enjoyed the balmy autumnal weather and the excitement, provided by the Main Street merchants.
This year's Halloween Walk provided ample opportunity for Ridgefield voters to meet face to face with the candidates just a few days before the all-important election on Tuesday, November 2. Rudy Marconi, Democratic Candidate for First Selectman, Mike Jones, Joseph Heyman and Barbara Manners, Democrats for Board of Selectmen, Kitty Fischer and Bob Opoztner, Democrats for Board of Education, were on Main St. meeting the kids and the voters all morning long.
Rudy Marconi, greeting children and parents alike, offered parents a gold coin (candy) symbolizing a "tax rebate" from the Democrats. Stationed at the corner of Catoonah St. and Main, Rudy and his team met Democrats, Republicans, Independents and Unaffiliateds who are voting for RUDY on Tuesday.

"I am thrilled to receive the support of so many people in town who are looking for new leadership and action on the two most important issues facing Ridgefield, our schools and Bennetts Pond," said Rudy. "I am comitted to working on behalf of not only the school population, but also for our elderly, our long term residents and new Ridgefield residents. Together, we can make Ridgefield the kind of town which we all want," Rudy added. The tide seems to be with Rudy as more and more residents--of all party affiliations--expressed their support for him as First Selectman. "When I see the smiling faces of children and their parents, I know what they expect of me and of their government. They have not received it in the past two years. I will make sure that the pattern of non-action, non-building, failed referendums, secret negotiations and 'lost' open space ends," he continued.
The Halloween Walk, a Ridgefield tradition, was threatened this year when the Chamber of Commerce could not afford the additional funds to pay for closing the streets and the required police detail. The Board of Selectmen, responding to the initiative of Democratic Selectwoman Barbara Manners, funded the additional police and received the permit from the State required to close the street. No committees, no referendum, just action for the benefit of the town.
Rudy Marconi and the Democratic team are looking forward to meeting more of the voters at the polls on Tuesday. " I will be out there all day on Tuesday to meet you and hear what you have to say, spoke Rudy,"and to answer your last minute questions." " I would appreciate your support and your vote."
Remember to vote for the entire Democratic Team: Rudy Marconi, Mike Jones, Joseph Heyman, Barbara Manners, Kitty Fischer, Bob Opotzner, Bernie Dzielinski, George Kain, Walter Slavin and Henry Seeman.
