Nov. 26 -- The Christmas lights are back on Main Street, thanks to new First Selectman Rudy Marconi. Showing he intends to deliver on his campaign promise of "Expect More, Get More," Marconi has worked feverishly for the last two weeks to overcome numerous obstacles and restore a much-loved Ridgefield tradition.

Several hundred people braved the rain to watch the lights come back to Main Street as First Selectman Rudy Marconi welcomed townspeople to the reinstating of this great Ridgefield holiday tradition.

The new First Selectman's work came to fruition at 5 PM today, as Rudy threw the switch in front of Town Hall, and hundreds of Ridgefield youngsters and their parents looked on in awe as the tree lights came on, all up and down Main Street. Questioned by a "grinchy" Steve Zemo at his first Selectmen's meeting on why we should put the tree lights back on Main Street, Rudy said simply, "the people want it." Tonight's clamorous reaction from the Main Street crowd certainly proved our new First Selectman knows what Ridgefielders want, and how to deliver it!
The grand finale was Santa's arrival. He was escorted down Main Street by a special contingent of Ridgefield Police and Fire people. The police and fire departments did an incredible job of keeping rush hour traffic moving along Main Street, all the while maintaining plenty of space for pedestrians to gather close to the steps of Town Hall to watch the festivities.
